When It Comes to Feeling Lonely, You're Not Alone

It's no fun sitting alone in your room feeling lonely. Deep down we're all looking for that special relationship even though we tell ourselves a casual date will do. We're all looking for romance, relationship, someone who cares. Maybe you haven't been on a first date in years but dating can be fun if you let it. After all, isn't dating basically the same thing as interviewing for a job but with a lot less at stake than we tend to believe?

For those of you who are newly single, this is a new beginning. You're not the same person you once were. Of course you'll need to heal but once you get used to the idea of being single again, you might want to begin to think about dating. Yes, you'll probably feel that first wave of fear course through you. That's normal. But the rewards are truly greater than the risks. And when you think about it, just what were these risks we're so frightened of taking? Looking foolish? Being rejected? Can't please everyone you know.

Where does one go these days to meet other singles? Bars, clubs, work, online? Now some people may believe online dating is for losers, but millions of people will tell you the place of choice for meeting singles in the twenty-first century is online. After the singles bars, blind dates, fix-ups, after the hit-and-miss dating and after struggling with it for several weeks, you might get on your computer and reluctantly type in the name of one of the larger online dating sites.

You enter your preferences, everything you're looking for in a dating partner. Now, unless you've specified some weird combinations of the type of person you'd like to date, you should see a good size list of potential matches to browse through at your leisure. It may take dating several different people (which will be a learning experience in itself) before the chemistry kicks in. You'll have the option of dating or not dating someone who contacts you without feeling uncomfortable about it. Simply don't respond to the contact.

Some might not respond to your contact. But there's no reason to feel rejected. It's just part of the process. You deserve to have what you want. And so do the people you're thinking of dating. When you do find someone only time will tell if this is it. If not, it's very freeing to know there are others choices available. You're not alone.

You'll find a huge amount of online dating and relationship sites on the web. If you've tried any of them, you'll know they differ widely in how potential dates are presented and matched. The larger, more well-known dating sites give singles wider variety and the ability to zero in on exactly what they're looking for such as dating for a serious relationship as opposed to dating for just fun or friendship.

Several articles on dating, singles, romance and relationships for both men and women are included on this site along with numerous links to dating tips and relationship advice on other websites. Take your time. Look around. You'll find something that will give some insights and food for thought. There's no reason for feeling Lonely.
